I have the honour to acknow-
stant in which
ledge the receipt of your letter of 5th in
you inform me, bez direction of "His Excellency the Governor, that the tribunal for investigating such such charge, thes contoured in
my letter of the 2nd instant, is the Executive Council and not the Legislative Council, and that the fullest opport. unity will be afforded me for bringing them forward in the proper quarter.
In reply I beg to point out to
you
that the document, enclosed with my
communication
of the 2nd, shew that for Extel, in his capacity of Private Secretary to His Excellency and, as he alleged at the time cine continues to affirm, by the instructions of His Excellency, made to me certain injurious statement calculate to destroy the reputation and damag the chancecter of a gentleman on the Colony and that those statements
wer untrue.
Sometime before his return to the Colony, in October last, His Ex- cellency the Governor was made away of the allegations which had been put
forceurd
